Nessa Comes To Nicki’s Defense
On Wednesday, July 16, Nessa shared a tweet on X, cosigning Nicki’s claims that Jay-Z and Roc Nation have allegedly been playing tactic behind the scenes. Nessa didn’t hold back either, alleging that the same shady tactics Nicki’s calling out were used against Colin when Jay-Z teamed up with the NFL.
In her post, Nessa wrote, “exposing the smear campaign tactics that Jay-Z, Roc Nation, Desiree Perez did to her behind the scenes, is VERY similar to what I was told they did to @Kaepernick7.”
Additionally, she spilled that Roc Nation allegedly pocketed $5 million a year for five years to squash Kap’s protest movement and help the NFL dodge the heat for blackballing him. Nessa’s been vocal for years, but she says folks were too scared to back her publicly. “I called them out YEARS ago,” she tweeted, standing firm with #StillWithKap.
What Happened Between Colin And Jay-Z?
Nessa’s frustration with Roc Nation, specifically Jay-Z, dates back to 2019. Despite his past support for Colin’s kneeling protest against police brutality, Hov inked a deal with the NFL to oversee the Super Bowl halftime show and their “social justice” initiatives. The same NFL that blackballed Kap for kneeling in 2016. Nessa wasn’t having it, tweeting, “THIS is a lie. COLIN never spoke to Jay-Z and NFL ahead of that deal being done.” Additionally, Kap himself threw shade on Instagram, giving props to players like Eric Reid for staying true to the cause, saying they “have never moved past the people.” The caption was regarded as a response to Jay-Z’s claim that “we’ve moved past kneeling,” per Deadline. Nessa and Kap felt betrayed, while sports fans were left divided.

More On Nicki’s Recent Accusations Against Roc Nation
Fast-forward to July, and Nicki Minaj is letting it all out! The ‘Come See About Me’ rapper took to X with a fiery tirade, accusing Jay-Z, Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez, aka “Desirat” in Nicki’s book, and the company of running smear campaigns. Their motive? According to Nicki, they allegedly wanted to sabotage her career. She claims Jay-Z owes her a whopping $200 million from her Tidal stake, alleging he tried to lowball her with a measly $1 million offer when she’s owed at least $9 million.
“#JayZ call me to settle this karmic debt. It’s only collecting more interest,” she posted, and whew, the shade! However, she wasn’t done. She also brought up a lawsuit by Perez’s daughter, Demoree Hadley, who accused her mom of wrongfully institutionalizing her. Then, on Thursday, July 17, Nicki turned up the heat during a Stationhead livestream that had the internet gagging. She accused Jay-Z of “stopping bags” out of pure envy, claiming he’s been sabotaging her career and others for far too long. Nicki didn’t shy away from putting an address on it, too, questioning if industry legends like Nas, DMX, and Dame Dash were lying about their own past beefs with Hov. “So that means Nas made all of that stuff up? DMX made it up? He had beef with Dame, Dipset…” she said in a clip obtained by Akademiks TV. Additionally, she even threw jabs at Jay-Z’s alleged use of bots to boost, calling him “55 with bots.”
