The 2017 BET Awards are right around the corner, and aside from seeing which of our favorite artists will be winners that night, we will also get to see some amazing artists being honored.
According to Billboard, New Edition and Chance The Rapper will be two of the special honorees that night.
Legendary group New Edition will be receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s award show. Back in January their three-part miniseries, “The New Edition Story,” aired on BET bringing in successful ratings, while introducing the legacy of the R&B group to a new generation.
Chance The Rapper will be receiving this year’s Humanitarian Award. The Grammy-Award winning rapper has been making headlines all year for all of the work he has done for his hometown, Chicago. He has received praise for his $1 million donation to the Chicago Public Schools in the wake of the lack of government funding.
The 2017 BET Awards will air live from the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles on June 25th at 8 p.m. EST.
