A newborn baby has passed away after reportedly being thrown out of a hotel window in Paris on Monday, February 24.
According to PEOPLE, the Paris prosecutor’s office has confirmed that the newborn was “thrown out of the window of the 2nd floor of a hotel in the 20th arrondissement.” Per the outlet, authorities have gathered that an 18-year-old American student tourist was traveling in Europe and seemingly committed the horrific action after giving birth. The incident reportedly occurred around 6 a.m. at an Ibis Styles hotel.
Per the outlet, a witness reportedly saw the infant being thrown with an umbilical cord.
“[The 18-year-old] was taken to hospital where she is to undergo an operation following her delivery. She is also taken into custody on site. The possibility of denial of pregnancy is considered,” a statement from the Paris prosecutor’s office reportedly asserts, per PEOPLE.
According to NBC News, “denial of pregnancy” is defined as “a mother either not being aware of or not being able to accept her pregnancy.”
Per PEOPLE, the newborn was “treated urgently” at Robert-Debr Hospital. However, the child “did not survive.” Furthermore, NBC News adds that the Child Protection Brigade has been assigned to investigate the incident as “a homicide of a minor under the age of 15.”
Lastly, the outlet notes that the 18-year-old is currently being held in police custody.
As The Shade Room previously reported, earlier this month, a Florida father was arrested for his alleged actions toward his infant. Joshua Ruiz-Martinez was accused of placing his infant daughter in a filled bathtub in April 2024.
Initially, he told police he discovered she had drowned after stepping away for “three minutes.” However, police determined this was false. Ultimately, cops discovered Ruiz-Martinez left the infant for at least 10 minutes to play video games.
