There is no doubt that Nia Long easily falls within the category of legends that demonstrate the saying, “Black don’t crack.” However, recently the veteran actress opened up about the pressures that come with being recognized as an “ageless” beauty.
In a recent interview with People, Nia spoke about being appreciative of being recognized as someone who continues to look youthful as she ages. However, that does come with some kind of pressure. She said, “I so appreciate the compliment, but I have to tell you, there’s so much pressure in this industry to stay beautiful and to stay young. And I’m really not interested in leaning into this idea of perfection.”
“I am a proud 51, and eventually I’m going to age in a way where it’s obvious and I want it to happen beautifully and gracefully,” Nia continued. “I don’t really want the pressure of feeling like I have to be beautiful and perfect because I think beauty comes at any age.”
She also confessed that she can sometimes be hard on herself when it comes to public appearances because she sometimes focuses on “trying to live up to a version of myself that was 20 years ago.”
Nonetheless, Nia did share the kind of beauty products she likes to use, which contributes to her flawless look. Instead of focusing on products that are used for “anti-aging,” she uses “products to stay healthy and to keep healthy, vibrant skin.” She likes to place her focus on “hydration, serums, vitamins, biotin and simply wearing less makeup.”
