Nick Cannon has been pretty candid about his journey through fatherhood and his experiences with the mothers of his children, but he recently opened up about the public’s perception of his bundles of joy during a podcast appearance with Dr. Laura Berman.
Nick is now a father of seven with one one the way, and although some of his children were born in close time frames to one another, he shut down the assumption that they were unplanned.
“I’m never gonna say that,” Nick Cannon said on The Language of Love. “I’m going to take full responsibility. Any woman that I know that I have unprotected sex with, there’s the potential to have a child. So I feel like if I have unprotected sex with anyone I know–because one, I value everything about me so much, if I’ve gotten to that point where I say, ‘I can take off this condom,’ I’m gonna say, ‘She could be the mother of my child.'”
Cannon added that he has a conversation with every woman he has a child with about the possibility of them having a child together.
“Every woman that I have a child with, there is definitely a conversation about, ‘Wow, how amazing would this be?’ I feel like every woman I have a child with are amazing mothers, and there was a thought process going into like, ‘Man, she would be an amazing mother, she’s desired children, I can’t wait to see what type of mother she would be.’ So, in saying that, I would say they’re all planned.”
Nick also went on to explain that he does not feel that monogamy is healthy, saying that it “gets into the space of selfishness and ownership.” This is not the first time Nick Cannon has expressed his views on relationships, however. He’s previously stated that his decision to have children with multiple women is based on his belief that being with only on person is not natural.
