In a new Power 105.1 interview with Angie Martinez, Nicki Minaj talks about being in a happy place and being proud of her new album The Pink Print. She also talked about how hard it was to get 20 songs on her album.
Although she talked about how happy she was, she broke down crying during the interview when speaking about her ex of 12 years Safaree. Nicki Minaj admits that she recently overcame depression and that her songs on the album that were inspired by her ex were “arguments frozen in time”.
She mentioned that she isn’t sure how to function without Safaree because she hasn’t experienced fame without him. She grew up with him and doesn’t know any other way.
When Nicki was asked if she dated August Alsina and Drake she quickly shut down the rumors. She said August was too young, and Drake was like a brother.
When asked about the rumors that she’s dating Meek Mill she said:
I think he’s amazing… I love what he represents for dudes that think like him, act like him…
I told him, you are so important to our culture. I need a DMX. When I was growing up I needed to see a dude talk like that and act like that…because a lot of men in the game now….(implies there are a lot of down low men in the game).”
Towards the end of the interview Nicki Minaj made it clear that she’s not dating Meek Mill, Drake, or August Alsina, except she couldn’t control her smile when speaking about Meek Mill. She claims he was just a friend but she didn’t sound convincing.
