#Roommates, sadly another Hollywood couple has decided to call it quits. This time it’s “Claws” star Niecy Nash, who just announced that she and her husband are parting ways after only eight years of marriage.
Many fans were shocked to see actress Niecy Nash post an official statement regarding the end of her marriage to Jay Tucker on Twitter earlier this afternoon. They released a joint statement that was free from blame or bitterness—and instead highlighted their happy times together as a couple.
The statement read:
We believe in the beauty of truth. Always have. Our truth is that in this season of our lives, we are better friends than partners in marriage. Our union was such a gorgeous ride. And as we go our separate ways now, we feel fortunate for the love we share – present tense. Thank you all out there for your support of us as a couple over the last eight years. We are grateful. Niecy Nash + Jay Tucker
You may remember that Niecy and Jay, an electrical engineer, had a huge wedding attended by 200 friends and family members, which was also turned into a TV special on the TLC network. The news of the split is also rather surprising because it was just a few months ago, that Niecy was offering marriage advice in an interview with ‘Essence’ magazine when she said, “A BJ a day keeps the divorce attorney away.”
Currently, there is no word on if/when divorce documents have officially been filed.
