Nipsey Hussle’s Family Set To Open A Second Location For The Marathon Clothing

This year will mark three years since the unfortunate passing of Nipsey Hussle. Although his presence is deeply missed, his family and team continue to keep his legacy alive and fulfill the goals he was already working towards. One of those goals is a second location for his Marathon Clothing brand.

Recently Nipsey’s brother Samiel Asghedom, spoke with Sam Levin from The Guardian and talked about the new store location, as well as some of the other plans they have coming. While discussing Nipsey’s legacy, his brother shared that their family purchased a commercial property in the Melrose arts district in LA, where they will open the second Marathon Clothing store.

He said, “This second location is a dream that Nipsey always had, and it’s important that his kids are able to see his plans fulfilled.” The new location is still being remodeled and does not have an opening date as of yet.

When it comes to the clothing brand’s first location, which is located at Crenshaw Boulevard and Slauson Avenue, it still remains closed. However, it still serves as a site where fans go to pay their respects. As many of you know, Nipsey was fatally shot in front of the store back in 2019. The lot where the store is located is also owned by Nipsey’s family.

Samiel also shared that the original location will have a community space that will offer free music lessons for the youth. Similar to a program Nipsey attended when he was younger.

Samiel spoke about Nipsey’s work in a free music production program in the Watts area and shared how they wanted to do the same for their neighborhood. “Everybody out of that program, including my brother, ended up pursuing a successful music career. Just a little effort and a little resources directed toward the youth can really make a big impact,” he said. “So a youth center would be the best thing we could put there, in the vein of what Hussle stood for: something to inspire the youth and teach them skills that they can use to be productive and legitimate when they become adults.”

Aside from opening a youth program at the location of the original Marathon Clothing store, Nipsey’s family is also looking to reopen Steve’s Barber Shop to give out free haircuts, and also they are looking into opening up something that will honor Nipsey. “We want a place where tourists and fans can come to pay homage versus a place that was all about sales,” said Samiel.
