Nipsey Hussle’s sister wants to have a bigger impact on the life of his youngest daughter.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, Samantha Smith has filed a petition to become the legal guardian of Nipsey’s 7-year-old daughter, Emani Asghedom.
Prior to his tragic death, Nipsey was Emani’s primary guardian, and Samatha says she has played a huge role in taking care of Emani over the years.
She hopes that becoming Emani’s guardian will not only ensure she can make legal custody decisions regarding Emani, but also keep her close to the family.
“I want to ensure that she can continue to live with family members with whom she has always had close ties,” the petition read. “We need to ensure the continued stability for Emani and ensure she will be able to maintain her current and ongoing relationship with us.”
Samantha says she has remained close with her brother over the years, and entrusted him with her life. She feels it is now her turn to do the same for his daughter in his absence.
It is unclear if Emani’s mother, who goes by the name Chyna Hussle, is aware of Samantha’s move to become Emani’s guardian.
Since Nipsey’s passing, the wellbeing of his children has been a concern for many people who cared for him and his family. Recently, fans did not take well to Reggie Bush’s kind gesture to create a gofundme for Nipsey’s children.
A judge has not yet made a decision on Samantha’s petition for guardianship, but we hope the decision made will be in the best interest of Emani.
