North Carolina Principal Surprises His Senior Class With Their Very Own Yard Signs & Personal Parades To Celebrate Their Accomplishments

As many of you know, as schools remain closed, and high school seniors around the country are faced with the harsh reality that they may not be able to traditionally celebrate their accomplishments due to the spread of COVID-19.

One high school principal still wanted to celebrate his students and their accomplishments, so he made sure all 220 of his graduating seniors received a special surprise. Teachers and admin from the school divided up to visit all of the students, and Wallace personally surprised 24 of those students himself.

According to the EducationNC, West Craven High Principal Tabari Wallace was joined by the school staff and local officials to help make the surprise parades for his students possible. They traveled a total of 485 square miles and made it all happen in a matter of four hours as they surprised each senior.

The night before the event, Principal Wallace said to the staff in an email, “This gesture is much-deserved considering what our seniors have been through over the past four years. Hurricanes, floods, ice storms, sharing their school to make room for the displaced JWS babies, no senior cookout, no senior prank day, no junior/senior weekend, no spring athletics, band and chorus concerts, no spring theatre productions, no A-team Banquet, no academic award celebration, and a delayed prom and graduation (yes we are still having these two) just to name a few.”

Dressed in a graduation cap and gown, Principal Wallace can be seen arriving at the homes of each student and presenting them with their yard sign so that people would know they are a part of the class of 2020.

Many people are stepping up to help high school seniors nationwide, celebrate this milestone in their academic careers in the wake of the coronavirus. Earlier this week, LeBron James announced he would be hosting a virtual graduation celebration for the class of 2020.
