NYC Woman, 38, Found Dead In Brooklyn Community Center Closet, Allegedly, With Bag Over Her Head

The body of a thirty-eight-year-old woman was reportedly found in the closet of a Brooklyn Community Center on Monday. As reported by New York Post, the outlet alleges that the woman was found with a bag over her head.

Authorities Consider The Woman’s Death To Be “Suspicious”

According to New York Post, the woman was found “unconscious and not breathing” at the Housing Works East New York Health Center in Brooklyn, New York. Authorities said they discovered the woman’s body around 10:30 a.m. on Monday.

An NYPD spokesperson shared a brief statement regarding the discovery, as reported by the outlet.

We consider it suspicious.

Additionally, the Office of the City Medical Examiner will determine the woman’s cause of death.

NYPD Hasn’t Confirmed Woman’s Death Cause

According to WINS, the New York Police Department “wasn’t immediately able to confirm” that the deceased woman was specifically found with a bag over her head, as alleged by New York Post.

Her death is being investigated as “suspicious” and the medical examiner’s office will ultimately determine how she died, according to police, who said her death may have been a suicide.

The Discovery Is Similar To One Made In The Bronx Last Year

The NYPD’s discovery in Brooklyn is similar to one made in the Bronx on May 7, 2022. According to AMNY, a foul odor in a Bronx apartment led officers from the 44th Precinct to a building on Ogden Avenue.

Once there, authorities gained entry into an apartment and a dead body was discovered with a plastic bag over its head. Authorities were initially unable to identify the person’s gender due to the body’s state of decay. However, they soon learned that the unidentified person was a woman.

On May 12, 2022, authorities reported her as 34-year-old Norayshma Fernandez. In addition, they also determined that Fernandez had been murdered, as per New York Post.

Additionally, cops reported that Fernandez died of asphyxia. While the initial investigation provided no suspects, cops arrested 46-year-old Geza Hay on July 13, 2022. Hay was booked on “charges of murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon,” as reported by PIX11.

The outlet also reported that Hay lived in the same building where Fernandez’ dead body was found.
