It has been some time since many parents were exposed for being a part of the controversial college admissions scandal, which involved them having a hand in their kids’ college admissions. One of the parents involved was Aunt Becky a.k.a. Lori Loughlin, along with her husband Mossimo Giannulli.
Now, both Lori and Mossimo are behind bars and serving time for their involvement in the scandal. While they are serving their time, their daughter, Olivia Jade spoke out about the situation on “Red Table Talk,” and expressed how it has made her realize some things, as well as changed her.
During her interview, Olivia said, “It’s been hard, for anybody no matter what the situation is you don’t want to see your parents go to prison but also I think it’s necessary for us to move on and move forward. What happened was wrong and I think every single person in my family can look at it and be like that was messed up, that was a big mistake but I think what’s so important to me is to learn from the mistake. Not to be shamed and punished and never given a second chance… I’m 21. I feel like I deserve a second chance to redeem myself to show I’ve grown.”
Jada Pinkett Smith’s mother Adrienne Banfield-Norris didn’t hesitate to let it be known that she didn’t feel compasionate about the situation, especially because African American families aren’t given the same privilege as Olivia and her family. Nonetheless, she did acknowledge that maybe a year from now, she could possibly feel different. However, this isn’t the time where she is feeling that.
She said to her, “At the end of the day, you’re going to be okay. Your parents are going to go in, they’re gonna do their 60 days and they’re gonna pay their fine, and you guys will go on and be okay and live your life. And there’s so many of us that it’s not going to be that situation, it just makes it very difficult right now for me to care in the atmosphere that we are in right now.”
