TSR, yall know Uncle Denzel Washington does not play when it comes to personal space and he made that crystal clear at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. The legendary actor was all smiles on the red carpet until a photographer decided to get a little too handsy. And lets just say Denzel had time today.
It went left real quick at the Cannes premiere of Spike Lees new film ‘Highest 2 Lowest’ when Denzel Washington had to check a photographer who clearly didnt know who he was dealing with.
Everything was cool just moments before Denzel was vibing on the carpet with A$AP Rocky and Spike Lee, smiling for cameras. According to reports, the energy shifted when a photographer allegedly grabbed Denzels arm mid-strut and asked, Can I take a picture? Thats when the Oscar winner turned serious. Video shows Denzel stepping up to the man and appearing to say, Never put your hands on me again.
When the photographer got handsy again, Denzel doubled down, reportedly saying, Stop it, multiple times and making it crystal clear he wasnt about to let the disrespect slide. A lip reader claims Denzel said,
Let me tell you stop, stop never put your hands on me again. Im talking to you, stop, all right.
And the wildest part? The photographer allegedly brushed it off with a smug Not allowed and even cracked a grin. One thing about Denzel hes going to protect his peace and his personal space. Though he was noticeably absent from the film’s press conference on Tuesday, it was confirmed that he returned to NYC for professional obligations.
Clips of the tense moment quickly made their way across social media, racking up thousands of views. Many users called out the photographers behavior, praising Denzel for keeping his composure while setting firm boundaries. Users took to The Shade Room Instagram comment section to speak up for the actor.

It all started off innocently when a female staffer accidentally stepped on Kelly Rowlands dress. At first, Kelly brushed it off with a calm Dont worry. That same year, actress Massiel Taveras made headlines after a tense moment with Cannes staff on the red carpet. While trying to showcase her dramatic gown, a staff member appeared to rush her along. The female security guard tried to rush her along mid-pose, blocking her with an arm across her chest and head. Massiel wasnt feeling it and appeared to check the guard by placing a hand over her face instead.
