“Orange Is The New Black” Star Taryn Manning To Star In New Crime Thriller “Karen”—Inspired By The Viral Internet Meme

#Roommates, if the thought of encountering a “Karen” is one of your worst nightmares—get ready because there is more to come in the form of a new movie! Former “Orange Is The New Black” star Taryn Manning is set to star in the upcoming crime thriller “Karen”…inspired by the viral meme that social media can’t get enough of.

Leave it to Hollywood to take something that’s popular online and turn it into a potential blockbuster—and that’s exactly what the hopes are for the upcoming film “Karen.” @TMZ_TV reports, “Karen” is inspired by the incredibly popular Internet meme used to describe the often over-the-top and racist behavior of a typical middle-class white woman stemming from privilege. The film is set to star Taryn Manning, most recently known for her role as Pennsatucky on the Netflix series “Orange Is The New Black.”

“Karen” is a crime thriller written and directed by Coke Daniels. The plot of the film is described as centering around a “racist, entitled white woman in the South who terrorizes her new African-American neighbors.” Lead character “Karen White” “makes it her mission to get rid of the new kids on her block, a black family, by any means necessary.” To add even more spice to things, “Karen’s” neighbors are big supporters of the #BlackLivesMatter movement.

Currently, there are no other reports on the film’s additional details, including production start dates, expected release, or any other casting details. “Karen” is set to be released sometime in 2021.
