Just a day after #JussieSmollett dodged 16 criminal charges and was cleared by the State’s Attorney, the lawyer for the #Osundairo brothers who police said staged a fake attack on Jussie, told @CNN the brothers felt betrayed.
Apparently Abel and Ola Osundairo were urged by their lawyer, Gloria Schmidt, to make a public statement and stand by their claim that Jussie faked the attack and they reportedly refused, according to @tmz_tv.
That was enough for her to quit on them. She said she didn’t want to rep them anymore.
People are curious why the brothers would go silent, especially because Jussie stands by his claim that he never lied, and that the attack was indeed real.
The police, along with prosecutors and the two brothers said they were the ones in the street with Jussie.
It isn’t immediately clear if Jussie still has a relationship with the Osundairo brothers or if they have communicated since Jussie got off.
The brothers both had bit parts on “Empire”, and Jussie alleges that he hired them both to train him to get ready for a music video he was shooting.
Authorities and Schmidt alleged that Jussie paid the brothers $3,500 for the attack, but Jussie claims that the money was for training. He pulled receipts to back that claim–including the check itself, along with text messages that indicated the brothers were putting him on a meal plan to get in shape.
After his charges were dropped, Jussie’s legal team said, “Today, all criminal charges against Jussie Smollett were dropped and his record has been wiped clean of the filing of this tragic complaint against him…Jussie was attacked by two people he was unable to identify on January 29th.”
Jussie thanked his family and fans for his support while maintaining his innocence.
