On Thursday, Paris Hilton gave fans a first-look at her newborn son, Phoenix!
Ahead of this reveal, however, the Simple Life star dished on her decision to keep her motherhood journey totally private from those around her. In fact, she didn’t tell her mother, Kathy Hilton, about Phoenix until he was “over a week old!”
Paris & Carter Wanted To Enjoy The Experience In Private
The new mother spoke on the matter on Wednesday during an episode of her This is Paris podcast, and she started off by speaking on how she and Carter Reum are “just over the moon and so in love with” their baby boy.
“Carter and I have been blessed with the arrival of our baby boy. He is such a precious angel, and we are just over the moon and so in love with him.”
She went on to note that the couple was strictly “keeping everything private” about their son’s arrival, and she even noted that some of her closest family and friends were left in the dark.
“Not even my mom, my sister, my best friends—no one knew until he was, like, over a week old.”
Regarding her and Carter’s decision, Paris pointed out that she loved the privacy, as she’s “never really had anything be just [hers].”
“It was really nice to have that with Carter, be our own journey together. ‘Cause I just feel like my life has been so public, and I’ve never really had anything be just mine…I really felt that I wanted this journey to be for us only.”
However, keeping such an exciting development a secret wasn’t easy, though Paris was determined to keep the announcement under wraps and out of the media’s hands.
“Of course, it was hard to keep that in because we were so excited and wanted to tell our families, but we were just nervous because if you tell a person, then they tell someone, and all the sudden, it’s in TMZ or Page Six, and I’ve had enough of my life like that. So Carter and I literally made a pact together that we would not tell anyone, and no one knew until just recently.”

When Kathy eventually got to meet her newborn grandson, Paris notes that the look on her face “was priceless.”
“When I introduced my mom to our baby boy, it was amazing to see the look on her face. She was so surprised—just the look on her face, it was priceless.”
