It’s been one year since the untimely passing of Pop Smoke, but his legacy continues to live on. It seems like you can’t go a day without hearing his music on the radio, or on social media, which isn’t a bad thing. With a star such as big as him, you never really know what is expected but when it comes to the Woo, just know it’s something big. His debut album, “Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon,” was executive produced by 50 Cent, and the project is filled with so many hit records. With songs like “For The Night” featuring Lil Baby & DaBaby and several other bangers. It’s hard not to listen to the tracks without running them back a couple of times. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and sold over 251,000 total equivalent album units in its opening week. Now the album has reached another milestone!

According to Billboard, his album had led the R&B/Hip-Hop charts for 17 weeks, which is the longest stay at No. 1 since 1990. The last time an artist who reached this type of charting success was Oakland legend, M.C. Hammer with his album “Please Hammer, Don’t Hurt Em.” The album dominated the charts for 29 weeks in 1990. In addition, Pop’s album surpasses Eminem’s “Recovery,” album which stayed on the chart for 16 weeks.

We can continue to hear his music as he makes his acting debut this week in the film “Boogie.” If you recall, we shared the movie trailer, which is about a Chinese-American basketball player Alfred “Boogie” Chin living in Queens, New York, who studies and works on his dream to make it as a professional basketball player. However, his parents disapprove and pressure him to apply for a scholarship to an elite college.

We miss you, Pop Smoke!
