President Biden Tests Positive For COVID-19 Once Again For The Second Time In A Week

For the second time within the last week, President Biden has tested positive for COVID-19 after testing negative and the White House confirmed that he is isolating himself in an effort not to infect members of his staff. Confirming the news on social media, President Biden revealed that he currently has no symptoms and is still hard at work fulfilling his daily presidential duties.

Via a letter from official presidential physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor, President Biden has officially tested positive for COVID-19 again, described as a “rebound” COVID-19 positivity that is “observed in a small percentage of patients treated with Paxlovid.”

The White House noted that Biden currently has “no reemergence of symptoms and continues to feel quite well” and has decided to not to continue treatment for the virus. This follows the president testing negative on Tuesday evening, Wednesday morning, Thursday morning and Friday morning before unexpectedly testing positive on Saturday morning.

Dr. O’Connor further added that “given [Biden’s] positive antigen test, he will reinitiate strict isolation procedures.” The president had ended his isolation last Wednesday following negative antigen tests.

In a message posted to his Twitter account accompanied by a video on Instagram, President Biden gave an update on how he’s feeling.

“Folks, today I tested positive for COVID again. This happens with a small minority of folks. I’ve got no symptoms, but I am going to isolate for the safety of everyone around me. I’m still at work, and will be back on the road soon.”
