Whew Chile! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are continuing to feel the intense backlash from the U.K. after announcing they are “stepping down” from their senior duties as part of the Royal Family. In the latest development, world-renowned Madame Tussauds has officially removed the couple’s wax figures from the Royal Family display.

@CNN reports, London’s popular Madame Tussauds wax museum has announced its decision to officially remove the waxworks of the Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, from its Royal Family wax figure set. Madame Tussauds decision follows Harry and Meghan’s jaw-dropping announcement that they have decided to not only “step down” as senior members of the Royal Family—but also aim to seek financial independence as a couple away from the massive wealth of the Royal Family.

Steve Davies, General Manager at Madame Tussauds London, released this statement regarding the decision:

“Alongside the rest of the world we are reacting to the surprising news that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be stepping back as senior Royals. From today, Meghan and Harry’s figures will no longer appear in our Royal Family set. As two of our most popular and well-loved figures they will of course remain an important feature at Madame Tussauds London as we watch to see what the next chapter holds for the them.”

Prince Harry and Meghan’s wax figures were previously placed alongside The Queen, Prince Philip, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Madame Tussauds further explained that their wax figures will be separated from the family to mirror their “progressive new role within the Royal institution.”
