Whew! Publishing company Simon & Schuster has just announced that it is no longer moving forward with publishing Senator Josh Hawley’s book on Thursday. If y’all weren’t aware, Sen. Hawley is one of the members of Congress who tried to overturn the results of the presidential election.
Hawley’s book, “The Tyranny of Big Tech”, was scheduled to be published in June, which is no longer the case as he is being accused of inciting the mob that stormed the capitol on Wednesday.
“We did not come to this decision lightly,” Simon & Schuster said in a statement. “As a publisher it will always be our mission to amplify a variety of voices and viewpoints: At the same time we take seriously our larger public responsibility as citizens, and cannot support Senator Hawley after his role in what became a dangerous threat.”
In response, Sen. Hawley alluded to taking the company to court for violating his First Amendment rights.
“Let me be clear, this is not just a contract dispute. It’s a direct assault on the First Amendment,” he wrote. “Only approved speech can now be published. This is the Left looking to cancel everyone they don’t approve of. I will fight this cancel culture with everything I have. We’ll see you in court.”
As we previously reported, multiple lives were lost after Trump supporters stormed the capitol on Wednesday afternoon. The riot started after Sen. Hawley and other members of congress addressed the upcoming inauguration and doubled down on the idea that the election was somehow rigged.
While few arrests were made, the chaos ensued for hours at a time and President-elect Joe Biden addressed the event on Thursday. Here’s what he had to say:
