Puerto Rican Protestors Are Calling For Governor’s Resignation After Corrupt Messages Leak To The Public

Roommates, Puerto Rican protestors were met by tear gas on Thursday morning, as they gathered to call for PR’s governor to resign.

According to CNN, protestors began overturning barricades outside of Gov, Ricardo Rossello’s home, bringing the demonstrations to an end.

A series of protests reportedly began several days ago, when nearly 900 pages of leaked messages from the governor revealed misogynistic and homophobic remarks.

“We are tired of the abuse, of so many years of corruption,” a protestor tells CNN. “We are here to make a revolution.”

Puerto Rico’s Center For Investigative Journalism Reportedly published the messages for the public to see. The messages also uncovered the governor’s plan to use Hurricane relief funds for his personal gain.

“This government has to begin respecting people,” protestors say. “We can’t stop protesting.”

Hundreds of demonstrators reportedly gather in front of the Puerto Rican Capitol on Wednesday for one of the largest protests in front of the governor’s residence.

Puerto Rican celebrities including Ricky Martin, Bad Bunny, and rapper Rene Perez join the protestors to show their support for a better PR.

As protestors arrive, they are met by a barricade of police in riot gear blocking the street.

“I’m here to fight for my rights and my daughter’s rights,” a protestor, Andrea Batista, tells CNN. “I’m tired of getting robbed.”

The alleged corruption happening in Puerto Rico has been occurring for some time now, according to comments made by residents. President Trump has also spoken out about the governor, and his role in creating  a corrupt environment.

“”The Governor is under siege, the Mayor of San Juan is a despicable and incompetent person who I wouldn’t trust under any circumstance,” Trump says in a tweet. “The United States Congress foolishly gave 92 Billion dollars for hurricane relief, much of which was squandered away or wasted, never to be seen again.”

We are praying for the people of Puerto Rico and encourage you to do the same, Roomies!
