In the words of Kanye West, “Listen to the kids,” and listening to the youth is exactly what Ye’ did. Congratulations are in order for Pusha T as it was recently announced that he is the new president of G.O.O.D Music!
Billboard exclusively made the announcement about Pusha’s promotion after their sit down with the rapper. In the interview, Pusha said the upgrade was a four month long process which came about after Kanye gave him a call with the idea. The “Grindin'” rapper said Kanye West needed him “to manicure the label, make it profitable and be very business-oriented about it going forward in a manicured type of way.”
He continued by saying, “I always look at it as an opportunity to help the team and I think that artistically, me and Kanye have the same vision. He respects me as an artist, a really manicured artist.”
With Pusha already being an artist on the label himself many would think this will put a hold on his own individual projects but he says otherwise. He revealed that he’s been working on his King Push album for awhile, so we can definitely expect to get something from him before the top of the year.
Aside from his own LP, we’ve all been wondering if there would be a Cruel Summer 2 coming our way and it’s looking like the new president is pulling out all of the stops to make that follow up album definitely happens!
However, now that he is the president of the label, he isn’t too quick to celebrate, but more eager to get to work. He said, “I don’t wanna celebrate till we see some real progress and really, just make things happen. Just be on the lookout for everything from G.O.O.D. Music and we just about to really take over and show we’re a force in the music game and this culture in general.”
