Queen Elizabeth II Has Agreed To Let Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Move To Canada Part-Time

TSR Updatez: It was quite the bombshell last week when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their plans to step back from their royal positions and move out west, especially before discussing it with the Queen.

Well, Queen Elizabeth II has finally broken her silence on the matter after meeting with Harry and Meghan. This morning, Queen Elizabeth said she “would have preferred” that the couple remain “full-time working Members of the Royal Family” but says she respects their decision “to live a more independent life as a family,” according to NBC News.

“My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family,” Her Majesty said in a statement. “Harry and Meghan have made clear that they do not want to be reliant on public funds in their new lives. It has therefore been agreed that there will be a period of transition in which the Sussexes will spend time in Canada and the UK.”

But the deal’s not over yet. The queen added that the details of the young couples’ decision to distance themselves from the Royal Family still have to be worked out.

“These are complex matters for my family to resolve, and there is some more work to be done, but I have asked for final decisions to be reached in the coming days,” the queen said.

The queen’s announcement came after the British royals held an emergency summit that was triggered by the couple’s shocking announcement that they planned to “step back” from their traditional roles in the family.

Last week the Duke and Duchess of Sussex dropped the bombshell on their social media. You can read all the details about their announcement here.
