R. Kelly Reportedly Broke Down
According to TMZ, R. Kelly’s legal team claims the singer is “suffering” and broke down in tears during a recent phone call. The singer is allegedly fearing for both his life and rapidly declining health while locked in the Special Housing Unit at a North Carolina prison. Nicole Blank Becker, one of his attorneys, says Kelly was petrified to return to prison after a recent hospital release and is now requesting home confinement.
“He’s emotional, and he cried intermittently on the phone call,” Becker told TMZ, adding, “Again, out of fear for his life.”

In regard to his recent hospitalization, Becker said:
“The next thing he knows, he is whisked out of the hospital, back in the SHU, never to see the doctor again,” Becker mentioned. She also added, “Whether you like R. Kelly or not, what’s right is right and what’s wrong is wrong – he’s a human being who needs medical attention immediately.”
Is R. Kelly Getting The Help He Needs?
R. Kelly was reportedly chillin’ at the Butner facility—until an alleged murder plot involving another inmate flipped the script and made things way messier for him. His legal team says this is a whole new level of drama compared to his time locked up in Chicago and New York. Meanwhile, attorney Beau Brindley and his team are sounding the alarm on Kelly’s health, recently signing a HIPAA waiver. They’re reportedly scrambling to snag Kelly’s full medical records from Duke Hospital to build their case.
“Robert is suffering. He’s still not getting his blood thinners. He’s receiving no treatment for blood clots whatsoever despite being diagnosed in the hospital,” claims Brindley.
What Led Up To This?
R. Kelly and his legal team are fighting to get him out of prison after a terrifying overdose and hospitalization. On June 10, the singer was reportedly thrown into solitary confinement against his will. Just a few days later, on June 13, Kelly allegedly woke up feeling “faint” and “dizzy.” His lawyer was seemingly told at the hospital that Kelly had overdosed on medication given to him by prison staff. Kelly was treated over the weekend and then sent back to the prison, but the drama doesn’t stop there. His legal team recently asked for him to be released on house arrest, citing an alleged murder plot against him by another inmate. They even called on former President Trump to pardon Kelly as they pushed for his release.
But that’s not all — Kelly’s lawyers also claim prison staff took him off his blood thinner medication and are blocking his access to surgery needed to clear dangerous clots in his lungs and legs. With his health reportedly in decline and threats looming inside, the singer’s camp alludes to time running out behind bars. Kelly is currently serving a 30-year sentence for sex trafficking and racketeering convictions.
