R. Kelly Was Reportedly Almost Stabbed With An Ink Pen During Recent Jailhouse Altercation

Kelly is really going through it as he continues to serve his time behind bars. Recently it was reported that he was attacked in his cell due to all of the protesters outside of the jail, causing it to be placed on lockdown.

Now more details about the altercation have become available.

According to Page Six, court records show that the inmate that attacked R. Kelly has the words “F*ck The Feds,” tattooed on his face and he tried to stab the singer with an ink pen. In the motion that was filed by Kelly’s attorney Steven Greenberg, he was sleeping in his cell on Wednesday when the “violent” inmate snuck in and started “stomping on [Kelly’s] head, repeatedly.”

In the motion, Greenberg also alleged that the inmate had “an ink pen with him that he was going to use to stab Mr. Kelly,” however, others grabbed him before he could use it.

Greenberg continued to state in the motion, “This is an inmate that never should have been anywhere near Mr. Kelly, an individual who is charged with the most violent of crimes, and one who plainly has no respect for the rules, he has the phrase ‘Fu** The Feds’ tattooed on his face.”

It was also noted that Kelly “mostly remains in his cell… to ensure his own safety,” and following the incident, he was placed in solitary confinement to ensure his safety. At the moment it is unclear if he is still in solitary.

“To-date, there have been at least a half-dozen of these displays of support outside of the MCC, always peaceful,” said Greenberg.

He continued, “These unnecessary institutional lockdowns have needlessly promoted animosity towards Mr. Kelly. Notably, the institution does not go into lockdown during other, violent, downtown protests or during citywide looting.”

Kelly’s team has petitioned several times for him to be released on bail as he awaits trial, but the court has denied. Following the altercation, Greenberg proposed that Kelly can live in an apartment with his girlfriend near the courthouse with electric monitoring.
