Roommates, it appears that rapper A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie is accused of damaging a property he rented in Mahwah, New Jersey, in 2017. On September 1st of that year, A Boogie entered into a 12-month lease to rent a luxury property from Dr. Lawrence and Carolyn Guarino. A Boogie put down a $15,000 security deposit and agreed to pay $10,000 in rent each month to live in the home.
However, in December 2018, A Boogie allegedly abandoned the property without proper notice, according to All Hip Hop. Not only did he abandon the property, but the Guarinos allege that A Boogie left significant damages throughout the house, which they say total $263,592.24. The Guarinos allege that the landscape was ruined, bathroom toilets were clogged, and the carpet was cut and replaced with mismatched pieces at the property. They also allege A Boogie left two vehicles abandoned on the property.
The Guarinos claim that A Boogie left their home with doors unlocked and opened, allowing water to infiltrate the property. This resulted in extensive damages to the high-end interior finishes, which left the home unable to be leased until extensive repairs were conducted, the Guarinos said.
With the home in such bad condition, Dr. Guarino said he contacted the Mahwah Police Department to report the damages and possible vandalism to the abandoned home. The Guarinos are also suing A Boogie and his business “High Bridge The Label” and are demanding a trial in the Superior Court of New Jersey.
This isn’t A Boogie’s first run-in with the law. If you recall, last December, one day after his birthday, he was arrested on December 7th on charges of unlawful possession of a handgun, which is a 2nd-degree crime, and possession of marijuana (disorderly persons offense).
