Raven-Symon had herself a kii while touching on the cultural differences she’s experienced being with her wife, Miranda Pearman-Maday. Her lesson zeroed in on Ebonics! On a recent episode of the ‘Smith Sisters Live’ podcast, the couple had fans cackling as they dove into the differences between how Black and white folks talk. Miranda got a full lesson on Black community lingo, specifically the phrase I wish you would, and, whew, it was a moment, okay? Miranda Pearman-Madays Ebonics Slip-Up Sparks Laughter

The convo kicked off with one of the ‘Smith Sisters Live‘ hosts dropping some tea about noticing how white folks talk differently when Black people arent around. I have learned by being with her [Raven] how white people talk to each other when Black people arent around. Like, I didnt know that white people said, Hi there, all the time. I was like, Ive never gotten a Hi there, the host shared. Raven was losing it, jumping out of her seat like shed just heard the gospel truth.

The former Thats So Raven star cracked everyone up with her reaction, showing shes been clocking these differences for years. Miranda sat quietly, soaking in the cultural tea as Raven-Symon and the hosts bonded over the nuances of language across communities. It was a lighthearted moment that set the stage for the real lesson to come.

Mirandas I Wish You Would Faux Pas Sparks A Lesson

Things took a turn when Raven spilled the tea on a moment that had her ready to square up with her own wife, yall! Let me tell you what my wife did, Raven said, leaning into the story. “She said, I wish you would go upstairs. I said, What you say? The hosts jaws dropped, knowing full well that in the Black community, I wish you would can be considered fighting words. Miranda, confused, chimed in, I was just like, I wish you would go upstairs and do this for me. The hosts were in shock before schooling Miranda real quick.

They explained to her that anything starting with I wish you would is a one-way ticket to a heated exchange with anyone Black.

It doesnt matter whatever you said after, even if you said, I wish you would beautiful, positive things. Because automatically, it means youre then now being sarcastic and youre being combative, they clarified. Raven added, You just had fight words with me. You threatened me.

Miranda meant well, but her words fell short, sparking laughter as she realized their cultural significance. It was a classic case of we love you, sis, but you gotta learn the code!

Raven-Symon and Miranda Reveal They Sleep In Separate Bedrooms

On their own podcast, ‘Tea Time with Raven & Miranda’, the couple got candid about their unconventional sleeping arrangement. They said they dont share a bedroom. In an April episode, Raven explained that intimacy goes way beyond physical closeness, emphasizing the emotional security they provide each other. Miranda backed her up, saying societys obsession with performative love doesnt define their bond.

“We function better in separate spaces,” Miranda said, to which Raven agreed. Not all the time, but especially when it comes to sleep. You are such a sporadic, bizarre sleeper, and I really need sleep to function. I was like, ‘We should have separate bedrooms, then we could each decorate our rooms the way we want,’ because you had a different vibe.”
