Ray J is opening up about Whitney Houston‘s passing and their relationship as social media shares a plethora of reactions to his sentiments.
On Friday, July 25, the singer was featured as a guest on the latest episode of Cam Newton’s ‘Funky Friday podcast’ released via YouTube. About 43 minutes into the interview, Ray brought up Whitney, noting his love for her and that he used to hang out with her “every f*****g day.”
“N****s are saying that I was in the room when she did bro, that’s the biggest cap I ever heard… But when you know the truth, why do you have to jump out there and tell it to everybody?” he said, specifically mentioning internet comments where he’s been accused of murdering Houston.
As the conversation continued, Ray explained that he was “nowhere around” Houston when she passed away at the Beverly Hilton hotel on February 11, 2012. Instead, he explained that he was in “San Diego, doing a show.” Furthermore, he explained that he and Houston were planning to attend the Clive Davis event together.
“Then really make the announcement that we were like you know what I’m saying?” Ray continued, which prompted Newton to ask if he and Houston had a real relationship. “1,000%, bro that was my peoples, bro.
Before concluding, Ray reflected on the moment Houston was found and the subsequent aftermath. To note, he also clarified that he never partook in drug use with Houston. However, he stayed mum on whether he witnessed the singer’s drug use.

To note, Ray noted that the recent conspiracy theories connecting him to Houston’s passing were seemingly rekindled by his mention in Diddy’s recent trial.
Social media users immediately shared reactions to Ray J’s comments about Whitney Houston’s passing and their relationship in The Shade Room’s comment section.
Instagram user @mecca_goddess wrote, “It was actually Clive Davis who saw Whitney the day that she passed. It was so heartbreaking that he decided to continue his annual pre Grammys party that same night smh very weird RIP Whitney ”
Before sharing his comments on Whitney Houston and their relationship, Ray J spoke about another relationship in his life. As The Shade Room previously reported, earlier this month, an episode of Evelyn Lozada and Shaniece Hairston’s ‘Drop the Lo’ podcast was released with Ray as a guest. Furthermore, Ray revealed that he feels like an “embarrassment” to his family. Additionally, he noted that he and his sister Brandy “haven’t talked.”
Furthermore, while speaking with Newton, Ray continued to open up about his relationship with Brandy.
“I love my sister, but I don’t think I’m her brother anymore,” he said in part.
