REPORT: Ja Morant’s Team Alleges Gun In Second Viral Video Was A ‘Toy’

New information regarding NBA player Ja Morant’s second gun-flashing incident is being alleged. As The Shade Room previously reported, Morant was suspended from “all team activities” of the Memphis Grizzlies in May. This action came after he was seen flashing a gun for the second time in a now-viral live-stream.

Previously, Morant flashed a gun while on Instagram Live at a Colorado strip club in March and was subsequently suspended then as well.

New Details Arrived Via ‘The Breakfast Club’ On Tuesday

On Tuesday, Claudia Jordan joined Charlamagne tha God and DJ Envy as a co-host on Power 105.1’s ‘The Breakfast Club.’ During their Rumor Report segment, Jordan explained that she received exclusive information from an “inside source” regarding Morant’s second live stream, where he was seen brandishing a gun.

“My sources say that the relative in the car, in the backseat, had a toy gun in the car — the gun is not real — and was playing around with it, passed it over to Ja, and that got caught on the live.”

Jordan continued, explaining that the NBA and its commissioner, Adam Silver, are allegedly aware the gun seen was a toy.

“Now the video was sent to Adam Silver, NBA, allegedly. They have it, and they say the gun looks extremely fake like it’s obviously a toy gun, but according to my source, allegedly, Adam Silver is still going to go through with the suspension. [It’s] looking like it should be about 30 games even though they know it’s a toy gun…”

‘The Breakfast Club’ Reacts

Charlamagne tha God immediately responded to Jordan’s report by explaining that he doesn’t believe the new alleged information.

“… that’s the best excuse y’all can come up with? If it was a toy gun, why not say that from the start? Why issue an apology for a toy gun?”

DJ Envy then chimed in by pointing out that “most toy guns… usually have an orange tip on the majority of them.” Then Charlamagne posed another question.

“If it was a toy gun, why did your man put the camera phone down when you started waving it? Why did he move the camera?… Y’all have to come up with a better excuse.”

Jordan then explained that she posed the question to her unnamed source. However, they only said that the NBA “knows that it’s fake.”

The group then ended the segment by explaining that regardless of whether the weapon was a toy, the NBA still holds jurisdiction over how they ultimately want to move forward with Morant.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver’s Previous Update On The Investigation & Morant’s Consequences

As The Shade Room previously reported, Adam Silver shared brief insight into the ongoing investigation into Morant’s recent actions at a press conference on June 1.

“In terms of the timing, we’ve uncovered a fair amount of additional information, I think…”

Additionally, he explained that investigation results would be shared after the NBA finals.

“I would say we probably could’ve brought it to a head now, but we made the decision, and I believe the players association agrees with us that it would be unfair to these players and these teams in the middle of this series to announce the results of that investigation… after the conclusion of the Finals…”
