The doctor who allegedly tried to rescue Malcolm-Jamal Warner amid the recent drowning incident has spoken out. In addition, officials have reportedly clarified recent details shared about the incident and the actor’s daughter.

Doctor Who Allegedly Tried To Rescue Malcolm Jamal Warner Amid Drowning Incident Speaks Out
On Thursday, July 24, US Weekly published an exclusive report. It asserted that the doctor who helped recover Malcolm-Jamal Warner from a Costa Rica ocean broke their silence.
“I was about 200 meters from the incident, at Playa Grande, spending the day on vacation with my partner,” the doctor, who asked for their identity to remain private, recalled. “There were very few people on the beach, and the sea was rough.”
Per the outlet, they heard a group of people shouting and calling for help. Once they ran over and entered the sea with their surfboard, they headed “into the rip current toward the person being pointed at by some beachgoers.”
“After a few minutes, I saw a shadow, dove down, and pulled the person out,” they explained.
According to the doctor, when they returned to the beach with Warner’s body, another young man was lying there. Furthermore, the man was reportedly struggling to breathe.
“[He was] just someone who tried to help during the emergency, without any rescue equipment,” the doctor recalled.
According to the outlet, Warner was unable to be resuscitated. Furthermore, the doctor explained that Warner “had no vital signs,” and the scene prompted two more tourists, who ultimately identified themselves as doctors, to attempt assistance. Ultimately, the Red Cross arrived at the location and attempted to use a defibrillator on Warner. But he did not respond.
Officials Reportedly Set The Record Straight Regarding Details About The Actor’s Daughter
As The Shade Room previously reported, earlier this week, reports alleged that Malcolm-Jamal Warner was swimming with his daughter when the incident unfolded. However, according to Page Six, Costa Rica’s Judicial Investigation Agency has clarified that “the girl was on the beach’s shore when her dad entered the water with a friend.”
“Mr. Warner was playing with his daughter at the seashore at one point. He then left her out of the water, and he and a friend of his entered the sea. It was at that moment that they were swept away by the current, and the friend managed to get out. However, Mr. Warner was unable to get out and was pulled out by several people on the beach. He received care from Red Cross officials, but was pronounced dead at the scene,” the agency reportedly stated to PEOPLE.
More Details About The Accidental Drowning Of Malcolm-Jamal Warner
As The Shade Room previously reported, the fatal incident occurred on Sunday, July 20, while Warner was vacationing with his wife and daughter in Costa Rica. Furthermore, “asphyxia” was ruled as the actor’s cause of death.
On Monday, July 21, the Caribbean Guard took to Facebook to confirm that Warner was “swept away by a strong hangover current and died by drowning,” per The Shade Room.
“It was all very fast, and even though there were people on the beach who came in to rescue him, they didn’t arrive in time. He was pulled underwater with no vital signs, and despite having been provided with CPR maneuvers on the beach, his resuscitation was unsuccessful,” the group added.
Furthermore, the second man who was found on the beach was transported to a facility in critical condition. Per US Weekly, he has since been released. In addition, the outlet reports that Warner’s body has reportedly been released to his family.
