Representatives For Wendy Williams Reportedly Release A Statement Following The Announcement Her Talk Show Is Ending

Roommates, in an exclusive statement from Deadline, Wendy Williams via her rep, speaks about her talk show officially coming to an end and being replaced by Sherri Shepherd. Following the news that her popular daytime talk show would be coming to an end after 14 seasons, a spokesperson reportedly spoke on behalf of Wendy Williams.

Off and on for the last two years, the state of Wendy Williams’ talk show has been a very rocky road. With long stretches of absences due to rehab, an extremely messy divorce and ongoing health issues, there has been a lot of uncertainty regarding if the show would continue with Wendy as the host—and now the final answer has been revealed. After 14 seasons and 12 years, Wendy Williams will no longer host her talk show. It was officially announced that her show will end and former co-host of ‘The View’ Sherri Shepherd will take over her time slot.

Following the news, industry insider outlet Deadline reportedly obtained an exclusive from her representative Howard Bragman that read as follows:

“It’s been a challenging time for Wendy as she deals with her health issues. She is incredibly grateful to Debmar-Mercury, to Sherri and everybody else who has supported the show through this time. She, more than anyone, understands the reality of syndicated television — you can’t go to the marketplace and sell a show that’s ‘The Maybe Wendy Show.’ She understands why this decision was made from a business point of view, and she has been assured by Debmar-Mercury that should her health get to a point where she can host again and should her desire be that she hosts again that she would be back on TV at that time.”

Debmar-Mercury, Co-Presidents and distributors of ‘The Wendy Williams Show,’ echoed a similar sentiment regarding the show. “We all have a great love and affinity for Wendy, who grew into a true icon during her 12 incredible seasons as the solo host of a live, daily talk show. Since Wendy is still not available to host the show as she continues on her road to recovery, we believe it is best for our fans, stations and advertising partners to start making this transition now. We hope to be able to work with Wendy again in the future, and continue to wish her a speedy and full recovery.”

As of now, there has been no official word from Wendy Williams or anyone in her camp about when she will return to work.
