Ryan Hinton, an 18-year-old Ohio teen, was fatally shot by police on Thursday, May 1. Hinton had been accused of riding in a stolen car and carrying a weapon. The following day, his father, Rodney Hinton Jr., allegedly ran over a police officer after viewing the body footage of his son’s death.

According to Burns-Tucker, Hinton Jr. is being accused of “hunting down and intentionally running over” Deputy Larry Henderson of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office. Per the host, Henderson had recently retired after serving on the force for 34 years. At the time of the incident, Deputy Henderson was serving as a traffic detail for a nearby graduation service. To note, Henderson did not have any involvement with the 18-year-old’s death.
Per the host, the Hinton family viewed footage of the teen’s death around 9:30 a.m. on May 2. Furthermore, around 1:50 p.m., Henderson was struck deceased by Hinton Jr.’s moving vehicle. Additionally, Burns-Tucker notes that Hinton Jr. has since been indicted. His charges reportedly include two counts of aggravated murder, felony murder, and more.

Per the host, Hinton Jr.’s defense attorney has claimed that his client was “legally insane” at the time of the fatal collision. Additionally, the attorney cited Hinton Jr.’s mental state after viewing the footage of his son’s last moments.
“Mr. Hinton did not make any attempt to deceive or try to hide what he did afterwards,” the lawyer reportedly shared in a statement.
