Rolling Ray is reassuring his fans and “haters” that he “never gave dead.” Nine days before his 28th birthday, the social media star shared a health status update after experiencing issues with his breathing between May and June.
According to his Instagram post on August 26, Rolling Ray was hospitalized earlier this year. In his update, Ray thanked a long list of loved ones and showed gratitude to the staff at Howard Memorial Hospital. Ray also included photos of himself in the hospital and footage of his folks looking out for him!
Here’s What Rolling Ray Revealed About His Hospitalization
As mentioned, Rolling Ray shared some details about his health scare in the lengthy caption of his Instagram carousel post. Back in May, he ended up in the hospital’s intensive care unit after his breathing slowed while in the emergency room. Ultimately, he said tests revealed he had pneumonia and a nonspecific blood infection.

“…Went from ah 86 to 72, then after 3 days in the ICU it dropped below ah 55. I was diagnosed with pneumonia and a bad blood infection. I kept screaming, ‘I can’t breathe.'”
He shared that, at the time, he didn’t believe he’d live past Mother’s Day. However, he credited his best friend Vonnie for sticking by his side “every step of the way.”
“…holding my head, even helping me wash up because I was afraid to let the nurses help me because I was in soo much pain. Thank u, best friend, for being there through it all,” Rolling Ray wrote.
After a few days, Ray said Vonnie left, and his condition worsened to the point of needing intubation.
“I woke up ah week later with a breathing tube in my throat. I was soo mad!! Aw it never supposed to gave a breathing tube but it was for the best & saved my life. I was immediately put on meds that kept me dazzed out!”
Rolling Ray added, “Lord knows that breathing tube was the worst since it made me not be able to speak.”
In closing, Rolling Ray shared that he believed he was going to die.
“It wasn’t easy not being able to speak, but it all worked out.! I thought I was gonna die y’all. But I fought, not just for me but for my fans, family, friends & haters! Because it never gave dead! Awww purrrr!
Now, Rolling Ray says he’s healing and getting ready to welcome his 28th birthday on September 5.
“…now that the summer time is almost over & I spent most of my days healing, I’m looking forward to my birthday in 9 days! I let it all work out for the best! & I’m still alive! Thank you GOD! Major content is on the way. & happy #VirgoSeason!”

As mentioned, Ray repeatedly thanked Vonnie, who circled back to be with Ray after his intubation. Additionally, he thanked his eldest sister, Danyelle, whom she shared a touching birthday post for in July.
“But guess who came often to check up on me, @choose.vonnie , Mr Scorpio, my lovely sister Danyelle, my aunt Trish, my cousin mikechelle, & of course my mom , & both of my dads. I could’ve had more visitors, but I was so weak! Also, thank you, @thehoodrichbarbie, for surprising me with your visit. Thanks for telling me how this is temporary & that I will make it out. Also, thank you to my other best friend @diggmulann for taking time outta her daily life to come see me & put doctors & nurses in they place.”
Ray also shared gratitude for someone named Mr. Scorpio and the hospital staff who saw him through the health scare.
“Also, thank you, Mr.Scorpio, for coming up there almost every day to see me , spend time with me, get me food when I got off the machine & more. Now to the nurses at @howarduniversityhospital thank you for the care, love, & generosity you showed me.”
