Rosalind Walker, an 80-year-old grandmother, passed away in 2023 after reportedly becoming trapped in her Sleep Number bed for two days. Now, her family has reportedly filed a lawsuit.

Here’s What Reportedly Happened To The 80-Year-Old Grandmother With Her Sleep Number Bed
According to the Daily Mail, on March 1, 2023, Walker was left pinned between her bed and the wall of her bedroom. Per the outlet, the Sleep Number bed reportedly “lowered itself without warning.”
On March 3, 2023, emergency responders were able to free Walker from the bed. Subsequently, she was taken to a hospital. Per the New York Post, Walker was “treated for unspecified injuries” and then transferred to a rehab clinic. Ultimately, the 80-year-old was placed in hospice care in her home.
Then, on April 3, 2023, Walker passed away.
Here’s What The Family Of Rosalind Walker Is Seeking Lawsuit Is Seeking
According to the Daily Mail, Angela Moan, Walker’s daughter, has filed a lawsuit against Sleep Number and its manufacturer, Leggett & Platt. Moan is asserting that her mother “suffered the entire time” until her death.
Furthermore, Moan is reportedly seeking compensation for her mother’s injuries. Additionally, she is seeking compensation for “medical bills in excess of $25,000.”
The suit reportedly alleges that Sleep Number “designed and sold a bed that did not have adequate instructions or cautionary language alerting Mrs. Walker not to go between the bed and the wall as she could be trapped.” In addition, the suit asserts that the Sleep Number bed “did not have an appropriate release mechanism which would have allowed Mrs. Walker to free herself.”
“This negligence was the proximate cause of Mrs. Walker’s injuries, suffering, and she died,” the lawsuit reportedly asserts.
Per Daily Mail, a spokesperson for the company has asserted that it “would not comment on pending litigation.” However, the New York Post published a quote from a cited spokesperson which reads:
“The suit alleges that a malfunctioning adjustable base purchased in 2014 was a contributing factor in the death of Rosalind Walker. We understand that this incident is alleged to have occurred in March 2023; we were notified of the alleged incident after the lawsuit was filed yesterday, December 10. We extend our sincere condolences to the family of Ms Walker for their tragic loss.”
