TSR Great Debatez: Outside of all the emotions that follow a breakup, one of the hardest things is getting back your stuff. Now, what’s considered to be part of that “stuff” is the question and “gifts” is the topic.
Saweetie had an opinion on this one in her recent interview with Complex. While discussing breakup etiquette, the interviewer asked Saweetie if a person should give back gifts their ex gave them after a breakup.
“I mean…if it’s mine, it’s mine,” Saweetie responded.
The interviewer noted in the piece that Saweetie was rocking the mint-green Birkin bag that her ex Quavo gave her at that exact moment.
“I already know the answer to this question, because the mint-green Birkin bag Quavo bought her is sitting between us,” the article read.
The gifts in that high profile relationship have been a recent topic of conversation considering the drama that happened (somewhat) behind the scenes and then played out on social media.
While they were together, Quavo was known for showering his icy queen with luxury gifts including cars and bags.
Following the breakup, Quavo put some of that energy into his music and implied that he sent a repo man to Saweetie’s garage to snatch the icy blue Bentley he customized for her on the song “Having Our Way.”
In addition to the music sub, the fallout from the breakup intensified for the both of them after an old leaked video showed the pair getting physical in some type of elevator altercation.
Following accusations of domestic violence on both their parts, both Saweetie and Quavo released statements saying the incident was old and they had moved past that together.
While it seems the rappers are trying to move on, let’s hope Quavo’s not waiting on them gifts coming back to him.
