Here’s What’s Taken Place So Far In The Jonathan Majors’ Assault Trial

According to Emily Palmer, Senior Crime Writer at PEOPLE, opening statements commenced in the Jonathan Majors assault trial on Monday, December 4. Palmer captured video of the 34-year-old actor as he entered a Manhattan court with his mother, sister, girlfriend, Meagan Good, and her mother.

During the proceedings, prosecutors alleged that the former couple met on the set of the film, ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.’ Majors allegedly asked Jabbari, a professional dancer and on-set movement director, for her phone number.

The couple’s two-year relationship quickly blossomed with poetry and “love notes.”

“He told me that he loved me early on, which was overwhelming, but I loved it as well,” Jabbari explained to the jury, per PEOPLE. “He wrote me poetry… I felt very loved and cared for and felt seen. He loved me and I loved him.”

However, the attorneys alleged that within months, “the defendant’s true self began to emerge.”

According to PEOPLE, Jabbari’s testimony began on Tuesday, December 5. The 30-year-old British woman reportedly described the actor as prone to “rage and aggression.”

“His face kind of changes when he gets into that place,” Jabbari explained. “He’s a big guy, so you just want to step back.”

Grace Jabbari References Michelle Obama & Coretta Scott King

The defense reportedly showed photos and played audio recordings of alleged fights between the former couple. Jabbari reportedly documented the moments to “feel safer.”

“I took the photo because the shift in his temper was something I was aware of, and I just wanted to remember,” Jabbari reportedly told the jury. “I knew I kept forgiving him, but I just wanted to have a bit of a memory of him.”

According to Variety, Majors chastised Jabbari in a September 2022 recording for disturbing “the peace” in their house. In the recording, Majors described himself as a “great man” who needs a woman like Coretta Scott King or Michelle Obama.

“I’m a great man. A great man. I do great things for my culture and for the world,” Majors said in the recording per Variety. “The woman that supports me needs to be a great woman.”

On the stand, Jabbari alleged that Majors would threaten to commit suicide and deter her from informing her friends and family about their disagreements.

“I saw the temper as this thing he didn’t want to have,” Jabbari reportedly explained. “I thought he can’t control it, but he does love me.”

Jonathan Majors’ Ex Opens Up About The Incident That Prompted Her Initial Abuse Allegations

As The Shade Room previously reported, Majors was arrested on Saturday, March 25. Additionally, the actor was charged with strangulation, assault, and harassment.

During her testimony, Jabbari reportedly reflected on what prompted the Majors’ alleged arrest. The 30-year-old explained that on a March evening, she and Majors were leaving dinner by “hired” car when she saw a “romantic” song by D’Angelo pop up on the actor’s phone. A text then followed the song.

“I wish I was kissing you right now,” the text reportedly read, per Variety.

Majors allegedly told Jabbari the message was “not what it seems.” However, the woman attempted to grab the phone from Majors.

“[I felt] what I knew to be the weight of him on top of me as he tried to pry the phone from my fingers,” Jabbari reportedly told the jury, per PEOPLE.

Jabbari alleged that the actor pulled and twisted her arm as she felt “a really hard blow” against her head. According to Variety, the actor exited the vehicle. However, as Jabbari attempted to follow him, he pushed her back inside.

As her testimony continued, Jabbari addressed reports of her going to a bar after the incident.

“The [physical] pain wasn’t registering. I was aware there was pain in my body, but I hadn’t registered anything. I’m a dancer. I’ve danced with a broken rib,” Habbari reportedly explained, per Variety. “I was only thinking from my heart of the infidelity. That morning, we were talking about when we were going to get married and the names of our [future] children.”

According to prosecutors, Jabbari was ultimately taken to the hospital with “minor injuries to her head and neck.” Majors has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him and maintains his innocence. However, if convicted, the actor may spend up to one year behind bars.

Jabbari’s testimony is expected to continue on Wednesday, December 6.
