Now you know these professional sports teams are trying to maneuver through this pandemic while still keeping their season going. While NFL teams have taken precautions during training camp as they gear up for the season, they have strict rules in place, but it looks like not everyone is down for following the rules. According to the NFL, earlier this week, the Seattle Seahawks waived rookie cornerback Kemah Siverand. It was revealed that he was caught on video attempting to sneak a female visitor into the team’s hotel.
Reporter Tom Pelissero says that he was told the woman was dressed in Seahawks gear in an attempt to disguise her as a player.
For obvious reasons, those actions were a violation of the team’s rules. It also comes during a time where they are currently holding training camp during the COVID-19 pandemic. As they continue to limit the amount of outside contact, Kemah’s actions were something the team was not willing to overlook.
It’s also noted that even without a pandemic taking place, players are usually prohibited from having an outside guest come to their hotels or dorms.
Kemah, who went undrafted out of Oklahoma State has not spoken out about the matter.
ESPN reports that Coach Pete Carroll’s top rule has been to “protect the team,” and recently he acknowledged the veteran players for keeping things in check. There has only been one player on the team on the reserve/COVID-19 list. However, it was confirmed that the player was taken off and reactivated after it was determined the result of a false positive test.
As we previously reported, the league had been testing its players over a four-month period where at least 95 players had tested positive.
