Shannon Sharpe Shares Relatable Thunderstorm Prep Including Covering All Mirrors

Chile! Ain’t no better memories than those that double as moments for the culture, even if they’re just practiced within our own households. Former NFL player and current host Shannon Sharpe shared a tweet on Monday evening highlighting how he was taught to prepare for a thunderstorm.

“When I was growing up, it would start lightening and my granny made us rush to cover all the mirrors, unplug all the electrical items, turn off the lights, no talking and sit still,” Shannon wrote. “Who else did this?”

It’s unclear what exactly prompted the story. Nonetheless, the memory was well-received and echoed in the Twitter responses. The tweet had received more than 1,200 retweets and over 9,000 likes by late Monday night. Also, with over 900 comments some users agreed with the practice.

Emory Hunt, @FBallGameplan, wrote “Bruh, I was told to put on a shirt on when it started lightening…til this day, I don’t get the correlation.”

Another Twitter user @___flyyyguyyy wrote “Not the mirrors but we turned the TV off and don’t talk on the phone and sit quietly and listen to the lord work.”

Multiple users agreed that the prepping practices are a Southern thing. According to the NFL, Shannon was born in Chicago, but was relocated to Georgia at just three months old to live with his grandmother.

These days when he’s not hitting folks with throwback tweets, Shannon co-hosts “Skip and Shannon: UNDISPUTED” alongside co-host Skip Bayless and moderator Jenny Taft.
