Salamondra Robinson, mother of Shanquella Robinson, credits Black Twitter for keeping her daughter’s case from going cold and thanked them for being a driving force behind her family getting justice.
She told NBC that if it wasn’t for social media, authorities would have likely let the case go cold, especially after a particularly slow start to the investigation.
“I never thought she wouldn’t get justice because we were going to try to go all the way. But I appreciate everything that everybody’s done, however you’ve played a part in it,” Salamondra said.

Black Twitter immediately went to bat for Shanquella and her family, working to identify “friends” who were filmed brutally assaulting her inside the villa in the moments before her death, as well as keeping the story in the public eye in an ever-changing news cycle.

Shanquella, 25, died late last month during a trip to Mexico with a group of friends. Her body was found in their Cabo San Lucas villa on October 29. Authorities originally suspected no foul play in her death.
However, conflicting stories emerged in the wake of Shanquella’s death. Her friends claimed she died of alcohol poisoning. But Robinson’s mother claims an autopsy found she suffered a broken neck and fractured spinal cord.
One friend who was still in the US during the incident went to Facebook alleging the group stole $10,000 from Robinson before they fled back home after her death. Robinson’s mother shared the post on her Instagram.
Video Of Brutal Assault Circulates Online, FBI Confirms They’ve Open Investigation Into Shanquella’s Death
The Shade Room has previously reported on an alleged video of Robinson being assaulted, alongside confirmed the FBI is currently investigating the young lady’s tragic death.
Law enforcement sources say anyone arrested in connection to her death will be extradited to Mexico, where the crime allegedly occurred.
Meanwhile, various social media posts have brought Black Twitter users to believe her friends murdered her.
Her father recently confirmed in an interview that one of the friends grabbed her by the neck and body-slammed her.
Shanquella reportedly spent upwards of three hours with a doctor from a local Cabo hospital before she was pronounced dead on October 29, according to excerpts from a police report.
The partial report was obtained by The Charlotte Observer by an investigative reporter for MetropoliMx, a news publication in Mexico.
The report states that at 2:13 p.m. on October 29, medical aid was summoned to the Villa where Robinson and her friends had been staying on vacation in San José del Cabo.
Local Doctor Made House Call To Shanquella’s Cabo Villa In Hours Leading To Her Death, IV Administered
About an hour later, a local doctor in the area, Dr. Gutiérrez from the American Medical Center, reportedly arrived to assist Robinson. Gutiérrez was told by her friends at the house that Robinson had “drunk a lot of alcohol,” prompting him to decide to give Robinson an IV.
The report goes on to say that the doctor found “a female” — understood in the report to be Robinson — with stable vital signs, but clearly dehydrated and unable to communicate verbally. Dr. Gutiérrez also noted she appeared to be intoxicated.

The report goes on to say that the doctor found “a female” — understood in the report to be Robinson — with stable vital signs but clearly dehydrated and unable to communicate verbally. Dr. Gutiérrez also noted she appeared to be intoxicated.
The doctor then told the other housemates to have Robinson transferred to an area hospital, however, the friends insisted that she be treated at the Villa. Dr. Gutiérrez reportedly then tried to give Robinson an IV but was unsuccessful.

An hour into Gutiérrez’s house call, Robinson began to have a seizure, according to the police report. 911 was called shortly thereafter by one of the housemates.
However, at this point, Shanquella Robinson was struggling to stay alive, with difficulty breathing and a lowered pulse. By 4:49 p.m. Dr. Gutierrez detected Robinson had stopped having a pulse. They quickly began administering CPR to her, per the report.
By 5:25 p.m., the doctor and paramedics had “administered a total of 14 rounds of CPR, five doses of adrenaline, and six discharges (AED shocks) without success.”
Shanquella Robinson was officially pronounced dead shortly thereafter at 5:57 p.m., according to the report.
None of Robinson’s physical injuries were mentioned in the police report.
According to a Mexican autopsy report, her cause of death was “severe spinal cord injury and atlas luxation,” which has since left her family only searching for more answers.
FBI Opens Up Investigation Into Shanquella’s Death: Family Seek Answers As Damning Assault Video Circulates Online
Meanwhile, the FBI field office in Robinson’s native Charlotte, North Carolina, confirmed to The Shade Room that they have opened an investigation into her death, with a source saying they will extradite the accused to Mexico if and when they are formally arrested.
The news comes as friends, family, and followers of Shanquella’s story on social media have demanded justice ever since a damning fight video emerged showing Robinson being brutally beaten by one “friend,” Dejahnae Jackson, who attended the Mexico trip with her, The Shade Room reported last week.
Mexican authorities reportedly issued an arrest warrant for Jackson, a local prosecutor said on Wednesday.
