Skilla Baby is countin his blessings and letting it be knownhes still here, and hes got something to say. After news broke that the Detroit rapper was shot in his hometown last month, fans flooded social media with support, and now hes speaking out for the first time since the incident.
On Wednesday, Skilla Baby posted an Instagram video thanking everyone for their support and prayers following a shooting he was involved in. But, in true Skilla fashion, he didnt just post a messagehe dropped a whole freestyle breaking down the moment and letting folks know exactly how he’s moving now. The track, raw and direct, seemingly touches on survival and loyalty, reminding fans hes far from finished.
At the beginning of the video, the Detroit rapper can be heard saying, “Thank y’all for y’all prayers and y’all concerns. All praise to the most high, my lord and savior for [covering] me while I was in a bad situation. I know he don’t make mistakes, so I will never ask him why, never question my lord and savior. I’m a soldier…I keep it solid.”
Additionally, he also shared an emotional caption, writing:
“Thank you to everybody for yall prayers Im good mentally and I know God wouldnt put me through nothing I cant handle,” he wrote. Skilla Baby also added, “we back…Again thank you to my fans family and everybody else for all the support Im nothing without yall! But yall know Im a soldier”
Social media had a lot to say after Skilla Baby broke his silence. Fans flooded The Shade Room Instagram comments with love and prayers, applauding him for bouncing back so quick. Others praised his freestyle, alluding to Skilla turning pain into power, while some recognized a shift in him.

As previously reported by The Shade Room, Skilla Baby was shot in his hometown of Detroit last month. He reportedly suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and a graze to the head while driving an SUV near Redford Township. According to reports, the shooting went down along 8 Mile on May 22, with multiple shell casings found scattered across the road. Skilla allegedly lost control of the vehicle after shots were fired, crashing into a nearby building. Just weeks later, Detroit police arrested a suspect after tracking down a linked vehicle and recovering a firearm during a home search.
Police reports say that the suspect, who has yet to be publicly identified, faces felony weapons charges for the targeted shooting.
Despite the scare, Skilla Baby has already stepped back into the spotlight. The rapper made his first public appearance less than 72 hours after the shooting. Skilla Baby hit the stage with rapper 42 Dugg in an all-black fit and a cast on his arm. The crowd went wild as he spit a few bars and seemingly addressed the incident head-on.
