You never know what kind of jewelry these celebrities are going to pop out with to turn heads! Yesterday Kim Kardashian showed off her brand new Opal Grill on Instagram, and everyone was shocked! Many people felt like Kim was preparing to have a “Hot Girl Summer” amid the divorce rumors with her and her estranged husband, Kanye West. While most Roommates were feeling Kim’s grill, one did predict the future by leaving a comment that everyone was going to think that Kim started the trend.
Well, the Roommate was right!
Earlier today on Twitter, singer Smino took the time to respond to someone who tweeted a picture of Kim’s grill and wrote, “Kim K just destroyed the Grill game .. She might have won .. OPAL?!?!?” Smino quickly responded, “Cap,” with a heart emoji. Several of his fans quickly defended him in the comments writing that Kim did not start the trend.

One commented, “I’m tired of people acting like the Kardashians are setting trends that Black people already made.” If you are not familiar with the St. Louis bred singer, he first shared his opal grill last December on the ‘gram. Even Nelly stepped into The Shade Room and commented about the discussion at hand. He wrote, “STL Yessserr. My nephew @smino already been done that… hard for STL to get our credit tho..!!”
When we thought the who started it first conversation was over, Erykah Badu entered the chat. One Roommate commented, “Erykah Badu was the first person I’ve ever seen with an opal grill.” Low and behold, taking a look at Erykah’s Instagram, she did in fact post photos with her opal grill dating back to last July.
