Rumors of a relationship between Gio and Playboi Carti first surfaced in September 2024 after the two were spotted together publicly. Since then, the pair have made several appearances, including courtside outings at basketball games and Gio joining Carti on stage during festival performances.
In October 2025, Carti was charged with misdemeanor assault following an alleged incident in Utah involving his girlfriend and a limo driver. Reports at the time claimed he punched his girlfriend in the chest and then allegedly struck the limo driver after the driver stepped in to intervene.
Although the woman involved was not publicly identified, speculation quickly circulated online suggesting it may have been Gio. Adding to the rumors, Gio posted a cryptic message on her Instagram Story the same day, reading fake news, which many interpreted as a subtle response to the reports.
