Social media users are sharing their reactions after PEOPLE named ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ actor Patrick Dempsey the “sexiest man alive.” As The Shade Room previously reported, fellow actor Michael B. Jordan was bestowed with the accolade from the publication in 2020.
The outlet unveiled its latest cover on Tuesday, November 8. Dempsey appeared in two separate cover photos for the magazine. Both flaunted the words “finally” next to Patrick Dempsey’s name and a bolded title of “Sexiest Man Alive!”
Additionally, more words about Dempsey were featured on the cover.
“daring, dreamy, & definitely worth the wait,” the subheading read.
In an accompanying interview published by PEOPLE, Dempsey explained his “shock” about being acknowledged by the publication. We must note that this is the first time Dempsey has graced the “Sexiest Man Alive” cover, although he’s appeared “countless times” in past issues.
“I was completely shocked, and then I started laughing, like, this is a joke, right? Ive always been the bridesmaid!” Dempsey told the outlet. “Id completely forgotten about it and never even contemplated being in this position. So my ego is good.”
Additionally, the 57-year-old actor explained that he’s “glad” he is receiving the recognition “at this point” in his life.
“Im glad its happening at this point in my life,” Dempsey said. “Its nice to have the recognition, and certainly my ego takes a little bump, but it gives me the platform to use it for something positive.”
