Social Media Reacts To Reports of R. Kelly Allegedly Holding Women Against Their Will In A “Cult”

R&B singer R. Kelly started to trend Monday morning after a new report surfaced, alleging that he has been holding women against their will. Social media lit up as users shared their thoughts on the latest rumor about the singer.

Buzz-Feed reports that parents have allegedly reported to police that the singer is “running an abusive ‘cult’ that’s tearing families apart.”

One of the alleged parents that have spoken out has been identified as J. in order to protect her and her family’s identity.

J. allegedly recalled meeting R. Kelly back in 2015 with hopes of helping to jump-start her 19-year-old daughter’s music career. After meeting the singer backstage at one of his concerts, J. claims he flew her daughter out to another one of his concerts after he reportedly said he would help her daughter with her music.

J. reportedly mentioned that she had her reservations about letting her daughter go with the singer. She said, “In the back of our minds, we were thinking [my daughter] could be around him if I was with her. It didn’t really hit home. Even with the Aaliyah situation, now that I think about it, ‘Age Ain’t Nothing But a Number’ … but you don’t think about that. You grew up with the song, and you like the song.”

Fast forward two years later, and J. claims that she is fighting to bring her daughter home. Her daughter allegedly still lives with Kelly and says she is doing fine, despite J. telling police she is “being held against her will” in what they call a “cult.”

J. reportedly last saw her daughter in December of 2016. She said, “It was as if she was brainwashed. [She] looked like a prisoner — it was horrible. I hugged her and hugged her. But she just kept saying she’s in love and [Kelly] is the one who cares for her. I don’t know what to do. I hope that if I get her back, I can get her treatment for victims of cults.”

Three alleged former members of R. Kelly’s inner circle confirmed the parent’s allegations with details. Cheryl Mack, Kitti Jones, and Asante McGee allegedly said that he has six women living with him at his properties in Chicago and Atlanta.

They reportedly claim that the singer allegedly has control over the women’s lives as he dictates how they dress, what they eat, how they sleep and how they engage in sexual activity.

The singer has not made any statements about this rumor as of yet.
