Social media users are sending prayers after NeNe Leakes shared a health update about her son, Brentt Leakes.
According to US Magazine, Leakes appeared as a guest on the ‘Humble Brag’ podcast. Furthermore, during her time on the show, Leakes explained that she was asked to appear on the show ‘Traitors.’ However, she couldn’t appear on the show because her son, Brentt, has been in the hospital since May.
“Im so glad I said no. I kept thinking maybe Brentt would be much better [by June]. My fear was committing and then having to go back to them and say, ‘I cant do it,'” she explained. “So that was never going to work. Brentt was very sick. It was no way I could have committed to it. And I believe you have to go out of the country [to film the series].”
Furthermore, NeNe seemingly explained that although Brentt is still in the hospital, he has made progress with his recovery. She explained that if he had been “in the place that he’s in today,” she would’ve gone to Scotland.
“We can FaceTime. Hes talking. He wasnt walking at the time. Now hes walking, hes talking,” she added.
In addition, NeNe explained that Brentt went to the hospital because his body rejected his new heart.

Social media users immediately stepped into The Shade Room’s comment section to send prayers to NeNe and Brentt Leakes.

A weak heart is prone to forming blood clots, which can travel to the brain and cause strokes. Prevention and early intervention is key. Listen to your and take care of body through diet and exercise. Its never too late, even for Brentt. Health is wealth ”

As The Shade Room previously reported, in October 2022, it was reported that Brentt experienced a heart attack and stroke. Furthermore, at the time, he was 23 years old. Later that month, NeNe shared that Brentt had left the hospital and was recovering in a rehab, per The Shade Room.
In January 2023, Brentt returned to social media and shared now-deleted photos showing off his 100-lb weight loss, per The Shade Room. Then, in October 2024, Brentt revealed that he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in June. In July of that year, he explained he underwent 14-hour heart transplant surgery to have a “brand new heart.” Ultimately, he shared that he was now relearning how to walk and talk.
To note, while appearing on the ‘Humble Brag’ podcast, NeNe spoke on potentially returning to ‘RHOA, per US Magazine.
“If I were to ever step back on that platform, would I be friend? I really kind of feel like I dont know that I would be a friend. I just would think, NeNe, season 1, the first Housewife, and Im a friend? I dont know,” she reportedly said.
