Starbucks New Health Insurance Covers Transgender Employees’ Cosmetic Surgery

Okay! #Starbucks coming through with the innovative progress for its employees!

According to their website, #Starbs is expanding its healthcare coverage with more surgical and cosmetic surgeries for its transgender employees.

Starbucks has been covering its employees gender reassignment surgery since 2012, and they will now cover more treatments including voice therapy, top surgery, and facial feminization surgery.

Starbs wanted to create more inclusive healthcare opportunities for their employees to assure they had the health care they need.

Ron Crawford, Starbucks Vice President of Benefits said in a statement:

“You have to think of it from an equity perspective. The approach was driven not just by the company’s desire to provide truly inclusive coverage, and by powerful conversations with transgender partners about how those benefits would allow them to truly be who they are.”
