Stephen & Ayesha Curry Are Working Through Their Foundation To Help Feed The Students In The Oakland Community In The Wake Of The Schools Closing

As the coronavirus continues to spread, many school systems around the country have canceled school for the remainder of the month to prevent the virus from further spreading.

Although students will be home from school, many people have been acknowledging that many students receive their 1-2 meals a day while they are at school. Therefore creating a worry that those students may go hungry now that school has temporarily closed.

Late Friday, Stephen Curry and Ayesha Curry announced that they will be doing their part to help feed the children within the Oakland community while the schools are closed.

The Curry’s teamed up with the Alameda County Community Food Bank and Feeding America through their “Eat, Learn, Play Foundation,” to fight childhood hunger in the Oakland area.

Ayesha said, “Oakland just announced they’re closing schools until April because of the COVID-19 crisis. While we support this decision, we’re concerned about what this means for childhood hunger in our hometown. More than 18,000 students in Oakland rely on their school for 2+ meals each day and our foundation “Eat, Learn, Play Foundation” is making a donation to Alameda County Community Food Bank and Feeding America  to help ensure no child has to worry about where their next meal is coming from while schools are closed.”

Earlier in the day, Steph had gone viral after he was seen holding in a cough while answering questions during a press conference. The spread of the coronavirus has caused many people to become extra cautious, and from the looks of things, Steph was well aware and made sure to hold back so people wouldn’t get the wrong idea.
