It’s looking like Matt Barnes cannot catch a break when it comes to the altercation that he had with New York Knicks head coach, Derek Fisher, back in October. Recently the Memphis Grizzles and the New York Knicks met face to face, where the Grizzlies defeated the Knicks with 103-95.
And once again it’s Barnes’ actions off the court that caused him to be fined $35,000 by the NBA, but this time it’s for his comments about Fisher. Barnes told the New York Daily News on Thursday that he had no plans on speaking to Fisher at all because, “I don’t talk to snakes.” It’s reported that he also referred to Fisher as a snitch.
Other comments Barnes made regarding Fisher, “Every man who looks at the situation knows what’s right and wrong. Violence is never the answer, but sometimes it is. And unfortunately, it happened.” He continued, “I don’t regret it. Like, man to man knows who’s wrong and who’s right. The NBA decided to step in and did what they did. But it is what it is.”
Kiki VanDeWeghe, NBA executive vice president of basketball operations said, “Matt Barnes’ comments condoning violence do not reflect who we are as a league or the character of our players, His words are unacceptable and entirely inconsistent with the core principles of this game and the NBA.”
Recently Gilbert Arenas mentioned on social media that he was there to see what went down between Barnes and Fisher, and vouched that Barnes definitely put a hurting on Fisher.
