Tasha K Files Updated Appeal In Cardi B Case And Wants Previous $4 Million Defamation Judgement Thrown Out

It’s been six months since Cardi B came out victorious (legally and financially) in her defamation lawsuit against YouTuber Tasha K where she was awarded a whopping $4 million, but now Tasha K is headed back to court. According to new court documents, Tasha K has filed an updated appeal to one she previously filed and now she is asking an appeals court to throw out Cardi B’s multi-million-dollar judgment.

If you thought the messy legal saga between YouTuber Tasha K and Grammy-winner Cardi B was over…think again. @Billboard reports that Tasha K (via her attorneys) has just filed a new appeal to get the previous ruling in the defamation case overturned, including the $4 million judgment that Cardi received after it was determined that Tasha was guilty. The appeal states that in the previous case the judge withheld key evidence about Cardi’s “character” and didn’t let jurors see who Cardi “truly is.”

The opening brief filed in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, Tasha K’s legal team alleged that Judge William Ray had “erroneously” and purposely excluded tons of evidence about Cardi B—which unfairly led to her winning against Tasha back in January. Additionally, Tasha’s attorneys also claimed that information regarding Cardi’s “character” should have been allowed to be included in a case that was centered on potential harm to Cardi’s reputation.

Partial elements of the appeal, which was filed on May 27th, read, “The jury heard a very lopsided presentation of evidence and, because they did not get to learn who the plaintiff truly is, the jury returned a general verdict for the Plaintiff, against both Defendants.”

Interestingly, as of now neither Tasha K nor her legal team have stated, via legal documents, what evidence they believe was excluded. However, during the initial case it was argued in court whether Cardi B’s alleged involvement in a gang and a past altercation at a New York nightclub should be included during the hearing. Currently, Cardi has not publicly responded to Tasha’s new appeal.
