Texas Woman Shot Dead By Ex-Husband While Telling 911 Operator Her Marriage Was Over: “The Call Went Silent”

A Texas woman was shot dead by her ex-husband while on the phone with a 911 operator, telling them her marriage had recently ended and that she was in the middle of a heated argument with her ex.

CBS News reports that the ex-husband fatally shot the woman before turning the gun on himself, all of which took place outside an apartment complex in the Dallas suburb of Lewisville at around 5:30 a.m. Thursday.

Authorities Say Woman Was Arguing With Ex-Husband While Telling 911 To Report Domestic Incident

Authorities say the former couple, neither of whom were identified as of Friday, were in a loud dispute in the parking lot of the complex when multiple gunshots could be heard.

Just moments earlier, the woman had called 911 to report the domestic incident, according to the outlet.

“The female told dispatchers her marriage to the male had recently ended,” cops said, according to CBS News. “A short time later, while the female was on the phone with 911, multiple gunshots could be heard, and the call went silent.”

Witness told investigators that they too began calling 911 to report the shooting, telling operators that the man had shot the woman and then took his own life.

Officers arrived at the scene found the woman with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest, while her ex-husband’s body lying nearby what a gunshot wound to the head, CBS news reports.

Former Couple Were Known To Local Police For Past Domestic Violence Calls, Authorities Say

The woman was rushed to an area hospital but was pronounced dead just an hour later.

Meanwhile, the alleged gunman similarly succumbed to his injuries about an hour after his ex-wife’s death.

Authorities say the couple were well-known to local police from past calls to their home regarding mostly non-violent domestic violence reports.

However, in one call, the husband slashed his wife’s tires, the outlet cites a police department spokesman as saying.

The news comes just weeks after the murder-suicide of Tamara Sawyer, who was shot and killed by the man she had been in an on-again, off-again relationship with since high school, according to KHOU 11.
